Location: New Port Richey - Alric C.T. Pottberg Library Gallery
An opening reception sponsored by the student activities office will be held. David Kastner, world renowned artist and PHCC art instructor, will offer the special lecture presentation, the art of compassion, at 6 p.m. in the art gallergy. The exhibit, Joseph Beuys works, runs from October 22 through November 2.
Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) was one of the most original and influential artists of the twentieth century.
Challenging the traditional confines of art, he embraced a broader philosophically and politically rooted practice based on the dictum, everyone is an artist. His long-term radical aims included the introduction of direct democracy through referendum, free access to all educational institutions, and a restructuring of the economy based on ecological necessity.
