PHCC softballPHCC has been playing intercollegiate fastpitch softball for more than ten years. In that time PHCC has become a highly competitive program with great expectations each year.

PHCC is a member of the National Junior College Activities Association (NJCAA), the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA), and the Suncoast Conference.

Tom Ryan was hired as the head coach in 1994 to develop the fastpitch program. He has established a respected and stable program which is the tradition of PHCC athletics.

PHCC softball had four straight seasons of forty or more wins and four straight state tournament appearances from 1997 through 2000. The team in 1997 won a school record 44 wins, in 1998 was co-conference champion, in 1999 PHCC achieved its highest honor with a second place finish in the prestigious state tournament, and the 2000 season brought the fourth consecutive 40 win season.

PHCC softballMany players have received recognition for their performance on the field by being named to All Conference, All State, and All Region teams. The program prides itself of graduating an extremely high percentage of student/athletes on schedule. Many players have advanced to all levels of four year institutions and continued to excel athletically. Others have enrolled in universities to concentrate solely on academics. Several players have also received All Academic Honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. In 2002, fourteen players were selected to the Suncoast Conference All-Academic Team.

PHCC boasts a competitive schedule and participates in many tournaments throughout the state of Florida. The Conquistadors also host an annual tournament which usually features powerhouse teams from within the state as well as the nation. The program runs throughout the school year with a fall schedule of approximately 20 to 30 games and the regular spring season schedule of over 50 games.
