PHCC is a member of the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The baseball program started in 1992 competing in the Suncoast Conference as a NJCAA Division I program. In just the third year of the program, PHCC finished runner-up in the 1994 FCCAA state tournament. Other state tournament appearances were in 1995 and 1997. The team won the Suncoast Conference championship in 1995. The program switched to Division II status in 2010 and has appeared in the NJCAA Region 10 District Tournament in North Carolina the past three years. Over 30 players have signed professional contracts and many have gone on to top universities throughout the country.
Chris Fee signs with St. Andrews University
Chris Fee became the third Conquistador pitcher to sign a baseball scholarship with St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. Fee had an outstanding sophomore season finishing 4-1 with a 2.40 era in 60 innings of work. He only walked 8 batters while striking out 45. Fee will join the Knights baseball program this fall.
Hutson signs with Florida A&M University
Ryan Hutson signed a national letter of intent with Florida A&M University last week. Hutson becomes the third member of the 2013 baseball team to sign with a NCAA Division I program. The shortstop from Cape Coral, Fla. batted .345 with 13 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 41 runs batted in. Pitchers Jordan Nolan (University of North Florida) and Austin Tolle (Tennessee Tech University) were the other two division I signees.
