Partnerships in education
Tech Prep is a national initiative designed to encourage higher
educational opportunities for all students. A cooperative effort,
the program unites education, business, government, and the community
in a common goal to integrate academic and work site learning.

Your local Tech Prep Consortium includes Pasco and Hernando County School Districts and Pasco-Hernando Community College with support from various area businesses and other members of the community.
Business partners
You and your business or organization are essential partners in the Tech Prep initiative. A cooperative effort, Tech Prep unites education, business, government, and industry in a common goal to develop the community’s workforce.
Tech Prep encourages the combination of academics and work place experiences that help students connect classroom learning to specific careers. This approach to education promotes higher academic standards, lower dropout rates, and the development of a skilled workforce.

- Form partnerships with local educators through the Business and Industry Advisory Council or the Executive Exchange program.
- Invite students and teachers into your workplace through the Educators in the workplace and the Career Mentors programs.
- Provide internship, job-shadowing, and mentoring opportunities in your company.
- Support the Tech Prep Scholarship Fund.
- Participate in other Tech Prep activities such as --encouraging your employees to speak at local schools.

The Tech Prep initiative encourages educators to help their students relate what they learn in the classroom to specific careers. - Ask your employer to sponsor internships and Tech Prep opportunities such as Educators in the workplace.
- Encourage students to take advantage of job shadowing, internship, apprenticeship, and mentoring opportunities.
- Encourage students to take Tech Prep courses in high school.
- Support the Tech Prep Scholarship Fund.
